Everything You Need To Know About Sport Pools

Standard inground pools have one shallow end and one deep end. But sport pools have two shallow areas on the ends and depth in the middle. When getting a pool installed we recommend thinking about the purpose of the pool and its uses. If you are a family with kids into sports or if hosting pool parties are on your summer plans we definitely recommend sport pools over standard pools.

What does a sports pool look like?

If you are getting a rectangular sports pool it will have two shallow ends with depth to accommodate your needs, usually around 3.5-4 feet deep. There will be a deeper section in the middle, usually not too deep but can be customized.

What are the uses of a sports pool?

There are many uses for a sports pool, it can be used to do aquatic exercises, to play volleyball or basketball,  to practice laps or even to host parties. Most aquatic exercises are done in the shallow ends of a pool because it is easier to lift weights or does aerobic exercises when you can plant your feet. For games like basketball or volleyball, you can get removable steel posts and a net. This way both sides can stand in the shallow end and you can have a fair game. We offer top quality Salt-friendly SealedSteel® posts that are vinyl-coated so you can get a salt system without worrying. Hosting pool parties is always more fun in shallow pools as most people can actually enjoy the pool. People can move around, and carry their drinks and it is also enjoyable for the kids!

Are sport pools safe?

Sports pools are generally safer as there is a more shallow area in the pool.  Sport pools are not designed to be safe for diving. So this might be something you need to address with a no diving sign. Although, sport pools depending on the length can be designed to accommodate diving features in the middle if the depth is increased. But sports pools are generally just as safe as standard inground pools.
