Inground Pool Water Features

When it comes time to decide what features you want for your inground pool, the options can be overwhelming. We are going to focus on the types of water features available so that you can make your decision and feel confident about it!

There are a wide variety of water features but we are going to touch on waterfalls, deck jets, laminars, and bubblers. They all have unique benefits that surprise people when they hear about them all! Whether you are looking for a water feature that is aesthetic, cooling, helps with circulation, noise blocking, or relaxation, there is a feature that is the perfect fit for you and your family. So let’s dive in!

Waterfalls

Starting strong with waterfalls! This is such a fun feature because it is so customizable. You don’t typically see the same waterfall twice! They come in so many different shapes and sizes that you might not even think they fall into the same category. This is one reason people are so drawn to them!

Now let’s talk about the super cool benefits of waterfalls. If you’ve ever floated along a lazy river then you probably know that relaxing ambiance that waterfall sounds make. Now imagine feeling that level of relaxation in your very own backyard… that’s what waterfalls can provide! They act like a humidifier and help with water circulation and temperature levels.

A waterfall (no matter what size) helps to move the water around within the pool which allows the water to stay cleaner. The circulation of water also allows the chemicals to be distributed more evenly which helps to avoid corrosion in areas where there might be a buildup of chemicals.

Waterfalls also help to regulate the pool water because of the circulation it provides. More oxygen reaches the pool when the water is moving, allowing it to cool it down some. If you live somewhere very hot in the Summer then a waterfall might be the perfect fit for you!

Deck Jets

Next moving to deck jets. Deck jets help create a pool oasis. These are the arcs of water you’ll see shooting across the length or width of a pool. The arcs can be small or can be several feet high depending on the look you are going for.

The super benefits of deck jets are pretty similar when compared to waterfalls. They create a peaceful atmosphere because they act as a sound barrier. This can be a huge plus if you live in a busy/loud neighborhood. Similarly to waterfalls, they also help with water circulation and temperature levels. They are also very customizable. The area in which they differ is the price tag. Deck jets tend to be much more affordable than waterfalls.

If you’re wanting beautiful water features but don’t want that to come with a large price tag, then deck jets might be the perfect option!

Laminars

Now we will shift to talk about laminars. Laminars are a step up from deck jets in that they are bigger and better. They can reach much greater heights compared to deck jets and still hold their arc shape. The arc of water is much thicker as well. The water almost appears like glass which creates a super beautiful effect. Deck jets can tend to have a broken stream depending how high they are set and typically break when they hit the water. Laminars however don’t break in the air or when they hit the water which is what gives it the glass like effect.

If you’re looking for a more dramatic water feature that lives up to the hype, then make sure to look into laminars!

Bubblers

Bubblers

Lastly we will shift to bubblers. Bubblers are a lot of fun and can add so much character to your Super Pool, but they are for more specific types of pools. These can be added to spas within a pool, onto pool steps, and most commonly seen, on tanning ledges. Bubblers are small fountains of water that essentially just “bubble”!

Bubblers only have a few benefits apart from the aesthetic appeal they provide to a pool. They help to cool down the water as well as offer soothing white noise that people find to be very calming. Bubblers are not very customizable but you can create a cool look by adding some lighting to them.

As you can see, there are a variety of water features and these were just a few. We hope our super team was able to inform you a little bit about waterfalls, deck jets, laminars, and bubblers. Make sure to do your own research and talk to your pool contractor about your options! Water features can vary in style, shape, size, and cost. So weigh your options and find what works best for you and your family! A water feature (or two… or three) is sure to elevate your backyard living space.
